About Me

Lucille

I've been having a bad week and needed to shift my focus to something else, something new. Aside from going out at night with girlfriends for drinks and whatnot, I just got myself a kitten! My cousin Ria originally asked me if I knew anyone who would be interested in buying her 3-month old Persian kittens, but eventually asked me if I'd buy one for myself. I went down to her unit (we live in the same condo) and met her cats. I'm not sure if pets are allowed in our condo, but they've kept theirs for years. But then when I asked them if they bring their cats out, they say they put them in their carrying case so I'm not sure if the people in our condo are even aware that there are animals in the building! It helps that the cats don't make any noise at all! I swear, I'm not a cat person but when I saw them, I instantly fell in love.

This is Lucille. Those who have read the manga Beck or watched the anime version of it, you'd recognize that it's the name of the guitar with the bullet holes that Ryusuke used.

One of her brothers is still for sale! If you are interested, leave me a comment here!

Annual Heartaches

I decided to read my old tweets. It's scary how alike my situation now is to where I was last year. I mean, check the dates! But, I honestly believe that it's for the best this time. Like I said last year,

Now I just need to move forward with my life. I like drama, but it would do me good to live without it for a while.

Something to look forward to

I've been wanting to take up short courses on some technical skills in Fashion Design. Patternmaking and sewing to be exact. This term my load is not that heavy, having classes only every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Friday's not even booked, just one 3-hour class. So since the term break, I've been looking into schools that offer such classes. I've contacted LCI-Manila first and they sent me their schedule

And then I saw the one in SoFA.

I remember my friend Ianna recommending the school. She took some classes there before and she said the atmosphere is fun. I don't know anyone who has gone to LCI so I don't know how it's like there. Also, considering that I want to take up both Sewing and Patternmaking I think it would only be convenient if I take it up in SoFA since they offer that. I just wish it isn't so soon, I haven't even talked to my parents about it yet.

So tired of being a bum at home. And I need to meet new people!

Japanese & Disney

My favorite cuisine has always been Japanese and I've been craving for a while now. After watching Vampires Suck with my brothers, we decided to buy rolls for dinner. We went with Kimono Ken since Sumo Sam takes forever.

Dinner!

Kani Salad Maki

Forgot what this is called. Spicy tuna & spicy salmon roll? Haha

Futo Maki

Philadelphia Roll

My brothers and I can't finish everything. We tried, and failed. Also, we're watching Camp Rock 2. Haha k.

Bag Lust

I started buying crossbody bags last December and I've been hooked since. The thing with carrying a big bag is that I tend to fill it with stuff I don't really need, which makes it heavy and hard to lug around. Small crossbody bags are much more convenient to use, especially on days when I don't need to bring a lot of things, which is often!

Here's what my bag staples are:
- Student ID
- Cash
- ATM card
- A compact mirror
- Lip balm
- Pens
- Cellphones (Globe & Sun)
- External Hard Drive
- book

I don't mind carrying the book I'm reading if it doesn't fit in my bag. I prefer that over bringing a huge bag that's filled with junk I don't use.

So yes, bag lust. Last Saturday, while shopping with my mom, I saw this bag in Dorothy Perkins. I actually saw it on the mannequin in Blush Pink but when I looked at the accessories section I saw that they had it in three different colors. I instantly fell in lust with the purple one! If I find myself still thinking about it on Wednesday then I'm coming back for it!

After going to Graphika Manila 2010, I want to go here next. Their speakers are artists based in the Philippines. No details on the ticket price yet but they'll be announcing that tomorrow. It's going to be held in EDSA Shangri-La Cineplex 4 on September 2 at 7:30pm.

Check their website for more details.

Yes, procrastination at its finest.

Fucking finally!

After getting frustrated along with half of my batch over the fucked up system of CSB for encoding, I HAVE FINALLY ENCODED. This was totally unexpected, I just wanted to go to SIS and check the list of classes available. I tried to log in, and just when I was not expecting on getting in, I actually do. Really didn't have any other choice for NSTP except for that 7:40-9:10PM class but whatever. I only have classes every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I'd just save my 6 cuts for Tuesdays when I get tired of waiting during my long (5 hours, le gasp!) break.

I'll try to find a better schedule tomorrow, doesn't really matter if it's on the other buildings. I'd take a 5-minute walk over 5 hours of waiting any day. Except maybe when it's raining really hard.

Anyway, my schedule!

Okayyy, I realize that the picture is too small. So to recap:

Tuesdays:
DYNAREL 9:40-11:10 AM
FILIP11 11:20-12:50 PM
POLIGOV 1-2:30 PM
5-FREAKIN-HOUR BREAK
NSTPCWT 7:45-9:15 PM

Thursdays:
DYNAREL 9:40-11:10 AM
FILIP11 11:20-12:50 PM
POLIGOV 1-2:30 PM
PETRIID 3-5 PM
(almost)3-HOUR BREAK
NSTPCWT 7:45-9:15 PM

FRIDAYS:
WORLITE 11:30-2:30 PM

EDIT:
I changed my NSTP to GD0A (TH 8-9:30) so no more breaks! :D

Fail internet

I wanted to update this but the internet keeps on fucking up. I'd sum up my two weeks in bullets but I've had a really bad day.

More on the uninteresting musings of an unappreciated girl that is my life tomorrow. Or whenever.

Tuesday with Mancel

I got too sick yesterday morning to go to school. Nothing too serious, so I was already feeling better before noon. It just so happened that my friend Mancel was online around that time. We've been planning on meeting up again for the longest time and our plans usually get cancelled at the last minute. On impulse, I told her I'm free for the rest of the day and that we should grab lunch during her 3-hour break.

I took the MRT from Shaw to Cubao. I even bought a stored value card because I'm sensing more northbound trips in the next few months. I didn't miss Cubao, but being there brought back many memories. I went early because I wanted to go around Gateway for a while. Grabe, the couple of hours I spent walking around and whatnot felt very nostalgic. I missed Ateneo, my friends, and even me from two-three years ago.

When Mancel got there, we hugged right away. There were no awkward moments, which was to be expected from friends who didn't see each other for almost a year. We always manage to pick up from where we left off, which is good.

We had a super late lunch (3pm!) at Italianni's. Already finished with the appetizer when she remembered to take a picture of the food. We both didn't bring a camera so we used her cellphone.

Salmon Carpaccio, or what was left of it.

Seafood Cioppino

After lunch, I asked her if she's already watched Inception. She said no, but she's been meaning to. So, what did we do? We got ourselves tickets! It didn't matter that I've already watched it twice. I liked the movie, and I want to see her reaction on the ending! We got cotton candy, too, since we both love that.

Mancel looking super happy! Haha!

Watching it with her was a different experience, if you can believe it. Which is good! (I hope I get to watch it with my boyfriend, too. I wonder how that'll turn out. :D)

AND THE DAY WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE, if we didn't steal something from the arcade! The first time we went out since I transferred schools, we (this time with Kim) stole a small plastic ball from one of the games. Gateway was packed last night (there was an Iglesia ni Cristo concert that night outside Araneta, I think) and we couldn't steal anything without getting caught. So we went inside one of the videoke rooms and randomly selected a song to sing so we could steal that page from the song book!

The unlucky page :D

It was too late to do anything else at that point, so we went home after that. It was great seeing her again, and I do hope I get to see some of my other friends in Ateneo soon.

Oh, and next time, we're stealing an air hockey puck! :)

Book Haul!

I love reading books, and I've been collecting since I was in grade school. (Yeah, Sweet Valley, Nancy Drew and Full House Michelle books count!) It wasn't until high school though, that I started to expand the range of the books I read. The school library became my happy place, mostly because I couldn't afford to spend my allowance on books instead of food and other necessities (I stayed in a dorm).

I guess those library books grew on me and until now, I prefer older copies of books than the brand new ones. Whenever I encounter a book that used to be from a library, complete with the stamp and the borrowers form/list, I can't resist not buying it.

So to my book purchases from the past month!

Some new copies, but most are secondhand. I'll share some of my favorite books from that pile, and some of my past hauls as well some other time.

I don't go to book sales knowing what I want to have because I don't really know that much authors. I don't care much about that actually. A good book is a good book, so don't be afraid to try reading books you've never heard of. Also, I know this shouldn't be the way it is, but most times I really judge a book by it's cover! ;)

Snake

I just found out about from a friend's post in Tumblr that you can actually play snake in Youtube while waiting for a video to load! All you have to do is pause whatever video it is that you're watching, and then hold the left arrow key until a line appears. You know the rest.

Fuuuun.

The thing about blogs

is that they're useless. I've never been able to keep a blog longer than a month in my life. Mostly because I can't keep up with my thoughts.

This is not me making excuses for not updating this. Just saying.

Ursus Wehrli tidies up art

In this video, Ursus Wehrli talks about tidying modern art by sorting each piece of the painting by color, size and shape.

While browsing through the list of videos, this one caught my eye mainly because it has the word tidy in it. I'm prone to having obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and it goes more than being organized with my stuff and not being able to stand messes. Like the speaker in the video, I tend to deconstruct the things I see and arrange them in a way that would make them look like they're not just a random coincidence. So when you see me looking all contemplative while in the car, that's not me pondering about the serious things in life like how to end poverty or which nail polish color makes my fingers look less stubby. I'm most probably trying to make sense out of the UZU548 plate number I see in the car in front of me.

My weird obsession aside, the video also subtly points out that art in whatever form is subjective. There is such a thing though as taking it too far, or over-analyzing art like what Ursus Wehrli did. This can either bring up a new perspective on the piece, or totally bastardize the original concept behind it. We all see things differently, and that's what makes art fascinating.

------
So we had to maintain a group blog for my Philippine Literature in English class. This week we were asked to each watch a video from ted.com then make an entry commenting on what we watched. I chose this and crammed the whole thing because I seriously just want to sleep.

And since I'm done, goodnight.

Changing my mind (again)

Today is the day that I decide to stick with Interior Design. CSB for 4 more terms then PSID, and then (hopefully) this:
